About Master Honey
After been in the beekeeping business for more than eight years, Andrea and Sergio notice that there has not been any significant change in this industry in the last 100 years, bringing as a consequence 13% decline in the bee population which creates a deficit in the national production of honey. At the same time, they notice that women were more effective with bees and as a consequence achieved better work results. After they learn that every 2 of 8 of these women are considered low income, they decided that it was time for a change.
Master Honey was born as a solution to the environmental and economical crisis we are facing. We aim to make the world sweeter one women at a time.
We will have two sets of clients, one been the women that we are helping and to the customers that will buy the local raw honey.
Our solution will booth the local economy by generating micro businesses around your community, as well as helping the environment by increasing the bee population and reducing the footprint generated by the transportation of honey (the honey will be produce and consume locally).
In each jar of honey, you will be able to read the story of the women that harvest this honey. You will be able to read about the direct impact that you are having in your community. Also, local raw honey contains the pollen of your community, which when consume reduces allergies. Raw honey is also antiseptic and full of vitamins.
We are currently working on our pilot. We aim to have 100 women enroll in our program by the begging of 2017. This will represent about 1000 hives, and we plan to deploy the program in Miami-Dade County.
